How clear aligners work

Clear aligners are a series of thin, custom-made trays. Each set moves your teeth a small amount, and you change to the next set every week or two.

They are removed for eating and cleaning, which makes oral hygiene easier than with fixed braces, but they only work if they are worn as prescribed.

Is it right for you?

Aligners work well for many adults and older teenagers with:

  • Mild to moderate crowding
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that have moved after earlier orthodontic treatment
  • A preference for a discreet, removable option

How treatment works

  1. 01

    Assessment and scan

A 3D scan replaces impressions and shows whether aligners are right for you.

  2. 02

    Digital plan

You see a simulation of how your teeth will move and the expected result.

  3. 03

    Aligner wear

You change aligners at home and visit for short progress reviews.

  4. 04

    Retention

Retainers hold the result. Without them, teeth drift back.

FAQ

Clear aligners questions

Are aligners as good as braces?

For many cases, yes. Complex bite problems can still be better treated with fixed braces, and we will say so if that applies to you.

Do aligners hurt?

Expect pressure for a day or two with each new set. It settles quickly.

Will I need retainers?

Yes. Retention is for life if you want your teeth to stay straight.
